Sustainable materials for a sustainable future

Choosing aluminium windows and doors is a sustainable choice that can significantly contribute to a greener and more energy-efficient summer.

Aluminium as a material is very suitable for recycling, allowing us to reduce waste in our production. Its durability ensures a longer lifespan, which reduces the need for replacing your windows and doors frequently. In addition to this, aluminium windows and doors offer exceptional thermal performance, helping you keep your home cool during the hot summer months, and improving the indoor climate.

Sustainable suppliers

As we source materials from our suppliers, we always keep in mind that we want the product that is the best for our planet. A big focus is laid on sustainability and environmental impact. One of our suppliers is Hydro Building Systems, which supplies us with the aluminium systems we need to craft your windows and doors.

Hydro Reduxa alloy is Hydro’s brand of low-carbon aluminium, made using renewable energy sources such as hydro, wind, and solar power. This means that the aluminium components are created with a much smaller carbon footprint per kilo of aluminium. By using suppliers who can offer the ‘greenest’ materials, we can ensure that our production remains more sustainable.

By using recycled aluminium Hydro Circal, we contribute to a lower carbon footprint. Because at least 75% of the material is guaranteed to be post-consumer scrap aluminium, and the fact that lower heat is used in the production process to create these aluminium components, the amount of CO2 from the production is reduced. Your new aluminium windows could be made from a demolished building, a can of soda, or even parts from a car. But that doesn’t mean that it’s any less strong than ‘new’ aluminium.

«By replacing 263 tonnes of traditional aluminium with Hydro Circal, we have contributed to reducing the emissions of our products by a total of 1650 tonnes of CO2 equivalents. That’s a good contribution, but we still have major ambitions. In 2023 - 2026 this proportion will increase significantly” – Says Managing Director of NorDan UAB, Giedrius Žilėnas.

uPVC recycling initiative

Our uPVC products are 100% recyclable. With uPVC being recyclable up to 20 times without losing its strength and durability, that can amount to a lot of windows. By minimizing waste and using recycled uPVC in our production, which requires lower heat and energy to manufacture windows and doors, we can ensure that the CO2 emissions are cut by 76 tonnes. Many of our window profiles are made with up to 43% recycled uPVC in their window profiles.
